Determining the total actual (real) weight of a shipment is done using any suitable measuring device (scale). In transportation, in addition to the actual weight, the so-called "volumetric weight" is also used, which is calculated based on the shipment dimensions (width, length, and height of the package).

Shipping rates are based on the actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater.

Determining the volumetric weight of your shipment is done as follows:

Calculate the volume of the shipment.
  • Multiply the length by the width and height in centimeters (rounded to the nearest whole centimeter) for each package.
  • When the shipment consists of more than one package, add the results for all packages. This sum represents the total volume of the shipment.

  • Divide the shipment volume by 5,000 to determine the volumetric weight (in kilograms).
  • Round fractions of a kilogram to the next half kilogram or to the next whole kilogram.
Length (cm) * Width (cm) * Height (cm) / 5000 = Volumetric weight (kg)
